Should You Be in More Than One Coaching Space at a Time? Let’s Talk About It
Should You Be in More Than One Coaching Space at a Time? Let’s Talk About It
You’ve probably heard the advice: "You should only be in one coaching container at a time." It’s something that gets thrown around a lot in the coaching industry. The idea is that spreading yourself too thin across multiple spaces might dilute your focus or lead to overwhelm.
But what if that rule doesn’t apply to you? What if having multiple support spaces is exactly what you need?
I want to share a different perspective today—one rooted in my own experience of being in four different support spaces at once. And no, it wasn’t reckless. It wasn’t panic-hiring. It was intentional. It was aligned. And it was exactly what I needed at that stage in my life and business.
So let’s have a real conversation about what it actually means to invest in multiple coaching spaces and how to know if it’s a wise decision for you—or if it’s actually a distraction.
Shiny Object Syndrome vs. Aligned Multi-Layered Support
Before we go any further, I want to be super clear about something: Being in multiple coaching spaces at once is not inherently a bad thing. The key distinction is why you are in them.
Shiny Object Syndrome Looks Like:
- Signing up for a new program because you feel behind and think it will fix everything.
- Jumping from coach to coach without integrating what you’ve already learned.
- Buying into the hype without truly considering if the offer aligns with your actual needs.
Aligned Multi-Layered Support Looks Like:
- Investing in different spaces that serve distinct and intentional purposes in your life and business.
- Knowing exactly why you are in each container and what you want to receive from it.
- Feeling empowered by your decision to invest, rather than feeling rushed or pressured.
It’s not about how many spaces you’re in—it’s about whether those spaces are actually serving you.
My Experience: Why I Invested in Four Support Spaces at Once
At one point, I found myself in four different support spaces at the same time. On the surface, that might seem like overkill. But each investment had a specific role in supporting me as a coach, a business owner, and a first-time mom.
Let me break it down for you:
- Somatic Coaching Certification
This was both an educational and support space for me. Not only was I learning tools to better support my clients, but I was also doing my own deep inner work. I had just found out I was pregnant, and I knew that nervous system regulation was going to be essential for me—both as a mother and as a business owner.
- Business Group Container for Mom Entrepreneurs
Even though I hadn’t given birth yet, I knew my identity and independence were about to shift. I wanted to be surrounded by other mom entrepreneurs who got it. This was less about strategy and more about having a community where I could be supported in balancing business and motherhood.
- 1:1 Business Mentorship
I was ready to scale. I wanted deeper support and a space where I could work through the challenges of growing my business in a way that felt aligned. I’ve been working with my mentor for almost three years now, and this space has been foundational in my business growth.
- Human Design Coach
This one was all about self-worth and identity. I wanted to dive deeper into my own personal alignment, unpack conditioning, and learn how to truly trust myself. This work was deeply personal but had a massive impact on how I showed up in both my business and motherhood
After my son was born, I naturally scaled back. Some of these spaces ended, and I replaced my Human Design coach with a somatic therapist to support me in postpartum. Now, my primary support comes from my therapist and my business mentor because that’s what feels aligned in this season of my life.
Reflection Questions: How to Know If Multiple Coaching Investments Are Right for You
If you’re considering joining multiple spaces, here are a few questions to help you make the most aligned decision:
- Are you making this investment because you are afraid of missing out?
Or does it genuinely align with what you need right now?
- What specific support do you need?
Are you looking for mindset support, business strategy, emotional regulation, community, or something else?
- Are you actually using the support you already have?
Are you implementing what you’ve learned, or are you just collecting more information?
- Do you feel excited and empowered or desperate and overwhelmed?
One comes from aligned action; the other comes from fear-based decision-making.
- Can you financially and energetically sustain it?
Do you have the capacity to engage in multiple spaces without feeling stretched too thin?
Practical Tips for Making Aligned Investment Decisions
If you’re feeling torn about whether to invest in multiple coaching spaces, here are some things to consider:
- Write it down. Journal about what you actually need right now before making a decision.
- Seek clarity before committing. That might mean reflection, clarity calls, or conversations with trusted mentors.
- Trust your own instincts. External validation is nice, but you are the expert on your own needs.
- Slow down before making a decision. Give yourself time to feel into whether the investment is right for you.
You Get to Decide
here is no one-size-fits-all rule when it comes to coaching investments. The key is to make decisions that are intentional, aligned, and empowering.
So my invitation to you is this:
- Get clear on what you truly need.
- Trust your own decision-making process.
- Give yourself permission to invest in support that genuinely serves you.
